Quote of the Day

"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."

Tough Pill To Swallow

Last Friday, Varsity Basketball went out against Fay, in what was an amazing fight between the two evenly matched teams. Fenn started off the game with ten quick points, but Fay bounced their way back scoring six consecutive buckets.

Fighting for the ball, diving on the floor, and dirty fouls, were just some of the ways to describe the first half of the game. At half Fenn and Fay were both tied at 23 points a piece

At half time, Mr. Bradley the head coach gave his pump up speech and told the boys, they have to play to their strengths. And that's exactly what they did. Cormac Zachar played an outstanding game, with a numerous amount of points and rebounds as well as Blayne Dee who had the game of his life, recording five assists. On the other end of the court, Eddie Uong played great defense along side Patrick McGann who were both working hard all the time!

The endless battle continued for another sixteen minutes and with just four seconds left in the game, Fay had the ball. Fenn was up 50-49. Fay inbounded the ball got it to their best player, shot it up and before the buzzer sounded, the ball dropped into the net. Fenn 50, Fay 51.

"It was a tough pill to swallow," said Assistant Head Coach, Bob Star. "The boys played their hearts out and that is all we could ask for." If faith prevails, Fenn will get another shot at them at the annual Fenn Varsity Basketball Tournament, held at the beginning of February.

Fenn Rolls

Last Monday, Fenn Varsity Basketball went out against a strong Groton team. Fenn got off to a quick start in the first half scoring 16 straight points. Eddie Uong had an outstanding game having multiple offensive boards and great blocks defensively. Andrew Brown also played well getting to the free throw line and knocking down almost all of them.

The boys played really well, and the Fenn Varsity Basketball team went onto beat Groton a lot to a little.

Today's game between Fenn and Fessenden has been canceled due to major snow storm and canceling of school.

Therefore now all the boy have to look forward to is the Fenn tournament this Saturday.

The little light of mine, shines again at Fenn

On Friday January 17th, Fenn students were given the rare opportunity to see one of the best Martin Luther King assembly's. Boys from different grades, helped Mr. Cobblah lead the assembly. Parents, guests and Nobles Choir joined us on a very special day to commemorate Martin Luther King, and also Nelson Mandela who both worked separately but were inspired by others to go out and make a difference.

The day was celebrated by amazing songs sung by teachers, faculty, Nobles Choir, as well as retired teachers. Poems were recited carefully with so much heart by students such as Leo Kafka, who recited Invictus. Finally, the assembly ended with quotes and inspiring stories that lead to both Mandela and King earning freedom for their people.

MLK day is always a special day at Fenn. It is a time where kids realize how lucky they are to even have the smallest things, such as freedom. The boys were involved in the assembly at the very end as, as a school we sung "This little light of mine."

As I graduate from Fenn, the one memory I will always have is the smile Mr. Cobblah has on his face while respecting Martin Luther King, and singing "This little light of mine."

Quote of the Day

Write it on your heart that everyday is the best in the year.

Concord Fire Dept. joins the party

Last Friday, Fenn held their annual Fenn/Nashoba Winter Dance. Girls from the Nashoba Brooks School joined boys at Fenn and for the party at school. The DJ's for the dance were Leo Kalfka, Andrew Brown, and Garren LaPlante. The MC's for the night were Thatcher Adams, and Matt Killian.
Just about fifteen minutes into the dance, a fog machine was set up for the kids to enjoy. But soon Leo realized that no one turned off the machine and before anyone could do anything about the fire alarm went off.
About hundred Fenn boys and Nashoba Brooks girls crowded around outside laughing about what had happened and shivering at the same time. The Concord Fire Department had to come to Fenn to make sure everyone was safe and no damages were done to the school property.
The dance resumed promptly and the night continued on, everyone having a blast.  The school raised quite a bit of money thanks to some generous donations. It was another one of those crazy Fenn/Nashoba dances.
